HARP |
|
Definition For:
DREAMS
AND VISIONS |
|
POSITIVE...
When I have seen a harp in the spirit, it has usually
represented the gift of psalmody. I have seen angels playing harps in the
spirit as well. Mainly though, it represents music and the gift of being able
to play music and be inspired musically by the Lord. There are many other
“spiritual instruments” you may see in the spirit. In the message “Prophetic
Praise and Worship” in the
Prophetic Course I share a bit on instruments I
have seen and heard in the spirit during praise and worship.
If you see the Lord giving someone a harp or stringed
instrument, then it means that He desires to give them a spiritual gift.
Others have been known to see a guitar or similar instruments. The point of
the vision is not the instrument itself, but what it represents, which is
Christ inspired music!
Speaking of praise:
Psalms 33:2
"Praise the LORD
[Yahweh] with harp: sing to him with the psaltery [and] an instrument of ten strings." (GMR)
Speaking of prophetic song:
Psalms 49:4
"I will
incline my ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp." (GMR)
Speaking again of the gift of psalmody:
1 Chronicles
25:3 "Of Jeduthun: the sons of Jeduthun; Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah,
Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun,
who prophesied with a harp, to give thanks and to praise the LORD [Yahweh]." (GMR)

HONEY |
|
Honey speaks of the sweetness of the Lord, richness,
abundance, prosperity and of luxury. The Lord spoke many promises of giving
honey. It was considered a food of luxury and wealth. If you were wealthy in
those days, you ate honey! It was a delicacy and one to be sought after.
|
|
Definition For:
DREAMS
AND VISIONS |
|
POSITIVE...
I have often seen honey in the spirit. I remember one
time the Lord saying to me, “open your mouth wide and I will fill it” then
as I did, I saw Him fill it with this rich thick honey that poured into my
throat. As I drank in, He told me that I was to consume His word this way.
That He was going to fill me with his anointing and with his goodness. I
literally felt as if I was drinking Him in!
The Lord’s nature and presence is often likened to
honey. His sweetness, richness and beauty being as honey. Honey has some
wonderful meanings if you take a look in the Word:
Speaking of blessing and prosperity:
Numbers 13:27
"And they told him, and said, We came to the land where you sent us, and
surely it flows with milk and honey; and this [is] the fruit of
it." (GMR)
Speaking of the Lord’s nature:
Song of Solomon 4:11
"Your lips, O [my] bride, drop [as] the honeycomb: honey and milk [are] under
your tongue; and the fragrance of your garments [is] like the smell of Lebanon." (GMR)
Speaking of prosperity:
Ezekiel 16:19
"My meat also
which I gave you, fine flour, and oil, and honey, [with which] I fed you,
you have even set it before them for a sweet savour: and [thus] it was, says
the Lord GOD." (GMR)
NEGATIVE...
There are times in the scripture where a
prophet is made to eat a scroll that tasted of honey but was bitter in the
stomach. The Lord told me once that this represented the world. That those
who sought after the world and did not know him chased after everything they
thought was fun and exciting. They sought things that tasted sweet in the
mouth (satisfied the flesh).
While they were tasting of the world and
going to all the clubs, bars and places of sin, they tasted honey in their
mouths. Every time they sinned, it tasted good to them for that moment. But
when they went home, that same honey was bitter within their hearts.
That the sin and
what the world offers, tasted like
honey for but a moment, but left behind a bitterness, emptiness and void
deep within. This is why they kept seeking that taste of honey. They tasted
the false. We have the real honey to give them that never runs dry or makes
bitter - Jesus Christ whose touch is rich and sweet!
Revelation 10:10
"And I took the little book out of
the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey:
and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter." (GMR)
Proverbs
27:7 "The full soul loathes a honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every
bitter thing is sweet." (GMR)

HUSBAND |
|
Definition For:
DREAMS |
|
Just as in the interpretation for a wife, your
husband will represent a different part of yourself in light of your real
life relationship with him. |
|
POSITIVE...
In most cases your husband will represent your
recreated spirit in Christ. You might dream that your husband takes you to a
specific place or that you and him have a disagreement. The first would mean
that your spirit is going to lead you in a different direction, the second
interpretation would mean that you have conflict in your spirit!
In some cases your husband would represent your
relationship with the Lord Jesus. You might have a dream where you and your
husband are trying to make love, but keep being interrupted. You might wake
feeling frustrated and confused, wondering how this could relate to the
Lord! The interpretation of this dream would be that the enemy has been
sending many interruptions that are preventing you from spending intimate
time with the Lord Jesus.
Speaking
of a husband being as Christ to his wife:
Ephesians
5:24 "Therefore as the church is subject to Christ, so [let] the wives
[be] to their own husbands in every thing.
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and
gave himself for it;" (GMR)
NEGATIVE...
If your husband or ex-husband is a negative
figure in your life, then it is not likely that they speak of your spirit or
the Lord. He would then speak of sin, pride, the flesh, fear, insecurity or
any other emotion that they trigger off in real life. It is likely that you
will dream of him often so in context of your internal dreams,
identify what they might represent.

Definition For:
VISIONS |
POSITIVE...
Jesus is our Groom. He is loving and yearns for us. May
times I have seen the groom desiring to take the Bride to the wedding
chambers. This speaks of His love for us and His desire to woo us into
receiving all He has for us. To become intimate with Him.
Speaking of the Lord as He rejoices in us:
Isaiah
62:5 "For [as] a young man marries a virgin, [so] shall your sons marry you:
and [as] the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, [so] shall your God
rejoice over you." (GMR)
Christ as our husband:
Ephesians 5:23
"For the
husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the
church: and he is the savior of the body." (GMR)
NEGATIVE...
In personal ministry, it would
be common to see a husband or wife in the spirit, depending on the
circumstance. The person might be divorced, in which case the Lord might be
telling you to break the ties between the ex-spouse and them (See ‘Branches’
for more on this). |

KEY |
|
A key speaks of license, authority and calling. Every
believer has been given a key to salvation. When you became born again, you
were given the name of Jesus to use against the enemy. You were given the
license to loose and to bind. I encourage you to read
The Way of Blessing by
Les D. Crause to understand this powerful concept. |
|
Definition For:
DREAMS
AND VISIONS |
|
POSITIVE...
I often see keys in the spirit. We see a golden key
when releasing a person into prophetic training and a large jewel encrusted
key when releasing someone into the apostolic. Les D. Crause often sees a
brass key when releasing someone into the teaching ministry. Either way the
key represents your authority. Some are given prophetic, apostolic and
teaching authority depending on their calling.
When you see a closed
door or gate in the spirit, the
Lord will be saying to you, “Take the key (authority) I have given you and
open this door!” This is especially relevant in the prophetic ministry where
the prophet builds up, tears down, opens doors of blessing and cursing,
restricts and looses on behalf of others.
Referring to the authority to loose and to bind:
Matthew 16:19
"And I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of
heaven: and whatever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and
whatever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." (GMR)
Having authority over satan:
Revelation 1:18
"I [am]
he that lives, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and
have the keys of hades and of death." (GMR)
Referring to Jesus and His authority and Kingship:
Isaiah 22:22
"And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his
shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none
shall open." (GMR)

LION |
|
The lion can by a symbol of many different things. Here
are a few: Royalty, strength, the Lord Jesus, defender of the righteous. On
a negative note the loin can speak of destruction, Satan, uncleanness and
theft. |
|
Definition For:
DREAMS
AND VISIONS |
|
POSITIVE...
A lion often speaks of the Lord Jesus. The scriptures
refer to him as the Lion of the tribe of Judah. In a positive dream or
vision, the loin would represent the Lord as your defender, as a king of
strength and of Him being able to care for and protect you - His ability to
overcome the enemy and His royalty.
Referring to Jesus:
Revelation 5:5
"And one of the
elders says to me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah,
the Root of David, has prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven
seals of it." (GMR)
NEGATIVE...
The enemy is also referred to as a lion, so you will
need to discern if the vision is positive or negative. In a negative context
a loin can represent a spirit of destruction that has been given license
through a curse in a person’s life. (Also see ‘Bear’ on the spirit of
destruction)
Referring to
Satan:
1 Peter 5:8
"Be sober, be
vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks
about, seeking whom he may devour:" (GMR)
Referring to destruction and theft:
1 Samuel 17:34
"And David said to Saul, Your servant kept his father's sheep, and there came
a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:" (GMR)
Psalms 7:2
"Lest he tears my soul like a lion,
tearing [it] in pieces, while [there are] none to deliver." (GMR)
Isaiah 38:13
"I reckoned till morning, [that], as a
lion, so will he break all my bones: from day [even] to night will you make
an end of me." (GMR)

MAN |
|
Definition For:
DREAMS |
|
A familiar but unknown male character in an internal
dream often speaks of your masculine side – the anima. This side is left
brained, analytical, and logical. Spiritually speaking, a man in your dreams
often represents a teaching function. Perhaps you might dream that you are
embracing this strange man. This would mean that the Lord desires you to
embrace your teaching orientation.
Perhaps you dream that a man that you are familiar with
in your dream, but do not know in real life dies. This would mean that your
analytical nature is being brought to death. If the Lord has been leading
you into a teaching orientation in ministry, you might dream of meeting or
marrying a man that you feel comfortable with, but do not know in real life.
This dream would confirm your direction in moving towards a teaching
function. Review the Woman symbol for an all round look at the animus
and anima.
Further, if you dream of a well known person, consider
what he stands for (This also applies to a woman character). It is common to
dream of a famous character such as the president or a pastor. Now when you
have a dream of such a person, instead of applying the dream directly to
them, consider what they would represent. A president could be a
representation of the world system or government system, while a pastor in
your dream (depending on your relationship with that pastor), could
represent the church system or even the Lord’s work in your life.

|
Definition For:
VISIONS |
|
If you
see a man in vision, you will likely see someone you know, if they are a
real person. If you are in intercession, then you will likely see a person
to direct your prayers towards. This person may actually look like you see
in vision, or the vision you see may simply be a representation of what they
stand for. Take Paul’s experience with the Macedonian that appeared to him
in a dream telling him to come to them. Now the person he saw was not an
actual person, but he represented the Macedonians.
When I
see demons or angels in the spirit, they are always masculine in gender.
Depending on the level of demon, I will see various forms. See the ‘Demon’
definition for more information.
|
POSITIVE...
In the case of Paul, the Macedonian he saw was a
positive vision. Consider what the man in your vision or external dream is
wearing:
Acts 16:9
"And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There
stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into
Macedonia, and help us." (GMR)
NEGATIVE...
A picture of a negative man in scripture would be
Goliath. I have often seen a “spiritual Goliath’ in vision. Goliath
represents the spirit of fear and the Lord often leads me in
intercession to break his stronghold over the lives of God’s people. Just
take a look at what kind of influence Goliath had on God’s people:
1 Samuel 17:23
"And as he talked with them, behold, there came up the
champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, out of the armies
of the Philistines, and spoke according to the same words: and David heard
[them]. 24 And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled
from him, and were sore afraid." (GMR)

MOTHER |
|
Definition For:
DREAMS |
|
You would need to assess your relationship with your
mother to discern if she is a positive or a negative picture in your dreams.
If you did not have a good relationship with your mother and she did not
know the Lord, she could represent the flesh in your dreams. She could
represent, pride, jealousy, anger – all depending on your relationship with
her in the natural.
If you have a good relationship with your mother, she
could represent the church in your dreams. Your father often representing
the Lord, would then make your mother a representation of the church (the
Church being the bride of Christ)
|
|
Definition For:
VISIONS |
|
Depending on the person you
are seeing in your vision, the vision could relate to an actual person or
simply be a representation of a type of person or group. Read up on ‘Man’
and ‘Woman’ for more details on people in visions. |
POSITIVE...
A picture of a mother speaks of nurturing, healing
and of restoration. It is the mother who cares for the child and feeds it.
If you see someone fulfilling a mothering role, then the Lord would be
indicating that they are called to nurture and mature His people. This is a
pastoral function.
When giving personal ministry I often see a person
holding a baby, as a mother. Now this is not always literal. What it could
speak of is that they are about to birth a new ministry. Always share a
vision with someone to see if they can witness with it before jumping to any
interpretations.
Referring to how a mother is accepting and loving of
her child:
Proverbs 4:3
"For I was my father's son, tender and unique in
the sight of my mother." (GMR)
NEGATIVE...
When giving personal counsel I often see the actual
mother of the person I am praying for. When I do, then I know that the Lord
is wanting to deal with an issue that involved their mother. There might be
a generational curse coming from their mother’s line that needs to be broken
or negative words she spoke over them. It might even mean that their mother
had caused childhood hurts that need to be addressed. Be sensitive to the
Holy Spirit.
Speaking of generational bondage and sin:
1 Kings
22:52 "And he did evil in the sight of the LORD [Yahweh], and walked in the
way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of
Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin:" (GMR)

NECK |
|
A neck speaks of that which holds
up and turns the head. It speaks of strength and of direction.
|
|
Definition For:
DREAMS
AND VISIONS |
|
POSITIVE...
A strong neck could also be a positive picture of
strength.
Song of Solomon 4:4
"Your neck [is] like the tower of
David built for an armory, on which there hang a thousand bucklers, all
shields of mighty men." (GMR)
Speaking of strength again:
Job 41:22
"In his neck
remains strength, and sorrow is turned into joy before him." (GMR)
NEGATIVE...
A stiff neck speaks of being stubborn and rebellious.
It also speaks of pride and of arrogance. Consider these passages:
Psalms
75:5 "Do not lift up your horn on high: do not speak [with] a stiff neck." (GMR)
In other words do not be arrogant and stubborn, thinking you have all
the answers!
Deuteronomy 31:27
"For I know your rebellion, and
your stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, you
have been rebellious against the LORD [Yahweh]; and how much more after my
death?" (GMR)

NET |
|
Definition For:
DREAMS |
|
POSITIVE
and NEGATIVE...
Depending on the context of your dream a net could be
positive or negative. Negatively speaking, a net represents bondage, being
bound, restricted and brought under bondage.
Micah 7:2
"The good [man] is perished out of the earth: and [there is] none upright
among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother
with a net." (GMR)
Ecclesiastes 9:12 "For man also knows not his time: as the fishes that
are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so
[are] the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falls suddenly upon
them." (GMR)
Psalms
35:8 "Let destruction come upon him by surprise; and let his net that he
has hidden catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall."
(GMR)
Psalms
31:3 "For you [are] my rock and my fortress; therefore for your name's
sake lead me, and guide me.
4 Pull me out of the net that they have laid secretly for me: for you
[are] my strength." (GMR)
Positively speaking, it could represent
evangelism (in the case of catching fish), of prosperity and of provision.
Matthew
13:47 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is similar to a net, that was cast
into the sea, and gathered a mixed assortment:" (GMR)
Habbakuk
1:14 "And make men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things,
[that have] no ruler over them?
15 They take up all of them with the angle, they catch them in their net,
and gather them in their drag: therefore they rejoice and are glad."
(GMR)
|
|
Definition For:
VISIONS |
POSITIVE...
One of our students shared once how the Lord kept
showing them a vision of a net over their bed. They searched and searched
but could not find the interpretation to this vision. It did not seem
negative, yet still no interpretation. Then one day as he browsed the
internet and the Lord led him to GMR NETwork. All along the Lord was
indicating that he was to become part of a network of believers and ministry
leaders.
So in this case, the net spoke of linking up with other
believers around the world. Seeing a net in a fishing picture, speaks of
evangelism - the Lord bringing provision and blessing.
Speaking of evangelism:
Matthew 4:18
"And Jesus,
walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and
Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were
fishermen.
19 And he said to them, Follow me, and I will make
you fishers of men." (GMR)
Speaking of provision and blessing:
John 21:11
"Simon
Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, a hundred and
fifty three: and even though there were so many, yet the net was not
broken." (GMR)
NEGATIVE...
I have often seen the enemy using
a net to snare and to
steal, in vision. Often when we have been believing the Lord for provision, I
have seen the enemy having horded all our provision in his net. I would then
speak forth and demand that he let go of that provision!
When giving personal ministry, I have also seen people
bound up in nets. Usually the nets speak of negative words and curses spoken
over the person. It also would be a result of personal sin and getting
involved in things they should not have and so have given Satan license to
bind them and bring a curse into their lives.
Referring to a net laid by those who speak negative
words and a curse over someone:
Psalms 35:7
"For without cause have they
hidden for me their net [in] a pit, [which] without cause they have
dug for my soul." (GMR)

OIL
/ Ointment |
|
Oil has many
interpretations and symbols, most of which you will find in the
Word. Most of the references to oil are positive and depending
on the context of your dream or vision, it could have the
following interpretations: Anointing, healing, cleansing,
beautifying, softening, the Holy Spirit, restoration, prosperity
(crude oil), placing in ministry, etc. |
|
Definition For:
DREAMS
AND VISIONS |
|
POSITIVE...
I have see oil many times in vision. A beautiful vision that
the Lord gave me once was of having oil poured over my head until my hair
glistened. It not only spoke of Him anointing me for ministry, but also of
Him preparing me and making me His beautiful bride. The emotion that came
with the vision was one of feeling beautiful and of being in love with the
Lord. You can find a good illustration of this in the book of Esther where
she was prepared for a year before meeting with the king. As she was
prepared, so are we also prepared and made ready to meet our heavenly
bridegroom – Jesus!
I often see the Lord anointing people in the spirit. It
speaks of being covered in the anointing. At times I have seen Him apply oil
to specific parts of their body, speaking of healing and restoration of any
ailment they had. It also speaks of a purging and a cleansing. To eat the
oil – to consume it - speaks of a cleansing and inner healing.
Speaking of the Anointing:
Exodus 30:25
"And
you shall make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the
are of the apothecary: it shall be a holy anointing oil." (GMR)
Psalms 133:2
"[It is] like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down
upon the beard, [even] Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;" (GMR)
The love of the Lord, as being a picture of oil. The
love of the Bride and Groom:
Song of Solomon 1:2
"Let him kiss me
with the kisses of his mouth: for your love [is] better than wine.3 Because
of the savor of your good ointments your name [is as] ointment
poured forth, therefore the virgins love you." (GMR)
Speaking of favor:
Ecclesiastes 9:8
"Let your garments be always white; and let your head lack no ointment." (GMR)
Speaking of healing:
Jeremiah 46:11
"Go up
into Gilead, and take balm, O virgin, the daughter of Egypt: in vain
shall you use many medicines; [for] you shall not be cured." (GMR)
NEGATIVE...
Oil that has been spoiled has a negative connotation.
It means that the anointing has been tainted with something that is not of
God. It speaks of sin and of the enemy gaining a stronghold in a person’s
life.
Speaking of defilement:
Ecclesiastes 10:1
"Dead flies
cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth an unpleasant
odor: [so does] a little folly to him that has a reputation for wisdom
[and] honor." (GMR)
