EAGLE |
|
Definition For:
DREAMS
AND VISIONS |
|
POSITIVE...
There are so many positive connotations for the eagle,
that you might have many of your own in addition to this book. In most
positive dreams or visions, the eagle represents the Holy Spirit
specifically and His work in your life.
My favorite
interpretation is a personal revelation the Lord gave me concerning hiding in the shadow of
His wings. I saw myself standing alone, facing the many attacks and
pressures that I am used to facing daily. Then I saw a huge eagle come and
stand behind me and extend its wings. As it stood behind me I was covered by
it's shadow.
When I stood alone, I looked really small when others
looked at me. But when that eagle was behind me, the size of his very shadow
made them stop dead in their tracks. Alone I was helpless, but as I stood in
His shadow, they saw His magnificence and so I was protected!
Psalms 63:7
"Because you have been my help, therefore in the shadow of your wings I will rejoice." (GMR)
Here is another passage that describes the
Holy Spirit as an
eagle:
Deuteronomy 32:11
"As an eagle stirs up her nest, flutters over her
young, spreads abroad her wings, takes them, bears them on her wings:
12 [So] the LORD [Yahweh] alone led him…" (GMR)
NEGATIVE...
In a negative light, an eagle can also speak of
destruction. The eagle is a bird of prey and it tears that prey apart with
its powerful beak and claws. Here is a passage that indicates that an eagle
in vision or external dream can indicate destruction and an attack from the
enemy:
Habbakuk 1:8 "Their horses also are swifter than the leopards, and
are more fierce than the evening wolves: and their horsemen shall spread
themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as the
eagle [that] has to eat." (GMR)

EARRINGS |
|
Definition For:
DREAMS |
|
POSITIVE...
To dream of putting on earrings has a positive picture
if you are woman and the emotion in the dream is positive. Earrings speak of
external appearances and the ‘face’ you approach the world with. It is the
way people see you and in a positive context, it would mean that the Lord is
blessing and is exalting you in the eyes of the world – that He is giving
you a gift.
NEGATIVE...
It would not be a positive picture if you were a man
and you were putting on earrings in an internal dream. This would mean that
you are wearing things that are meant for a woman and that there is
something very wrong in the way you are approaching life.
|
|
Definition For:
VISIONS |
POSITIVE...
Earrings and jewels (in a positive light) were given to
a bride or the betrothed. In this passage the Lord describes how He clothes
Israel with beauty and gave her jewels to wear to accentuate that beauty. So
to see jewelry in a vision or external dream could indicate a new gift of
blessing from the Lord. Not a desire being met, but rather a desire that He
will meet.
Ezekiel 16:12
"And I put a jewel on your forehead, and earrings
in your ears, and a beautiful crown upon your head." (GMR)
NEGATIVE...
Putting on earrings to draw attention to herself in a
negative way indicates a harlot and one who is using her charms in a lewd
manner. Dressing up to impress, or trying to get attention.
Hosea 2:13 "And I will visit upon her the days of Baalim, in which she burned incense to
them, and she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and she went
after her lovers, and forgot me, says the LORD [Yahweh]." (GMR)

EARS |
|
Definition For:
DREAMS
AND VISIONS |
|
POSITIVE...
Ears speak of receiving into your spirit the truth of
the Lord. To hear with your ears in scripture means to have understanding.
Luke speaks of the ability to understand here in:
Luke 9:44
"Let these
sayings sink down into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into
the hands of men." (GMR)
NEGATIVE...
To see blocked ears or ears that cannot hear, means
that the person in question has no understanding of the truth. Often in
scripture you will read how the Lord said ‘having ears, they did not hear’
speaking of the people’s inability to understand His instruction and
parables. That exact meaning is clarified here in:
Acts 7:51 "You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you do always resist the
Holy Spirit: as your fathers [did], so [do] you." (GMR)

EARTHQUAKE |
|
Definition For:
DREAMS |
|
POSITIVE...
I have often interpreted dreams where people have found
themselves in an earthquake. Often the interpretation has been that there is
coming a shaking in their lives to remove those things that are not of the
Lord. Often I have seen this occur when someone is about to enter into a new
realm of ministry. In a positive context, an earthquake means that a shaking
and a dramatic change for the good, is about to occur in the life of that person!
The
verses below show this kind of shaking as Jesus died, signifying a close or
destruction of the old:
Matthew
27:50 "Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the
spirit.
51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the
bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks rent;" (GMR)
This
shaking occurred once again to signify something new:
Matthew
28:2 "And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the
Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the
door, and sat upon it." (GMR)
NEGATIVE...
An earthquake can also speak of the destruction of the
enemy. That he is attempting to destroy their lives and to remove their feet
from under them. In such a case I would counsel that this person run to the
solid rock which is Jesus Christ, to ensure that their footing remains sure,
throughout this attack.
Psalms 82:4 "Rescue the weak and needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
5 "They know nothing, they understand nothing. They walk about in darkness;
all the foundations of the earth are shaken." (NIV)

|
Definition For:
VISIONS |
POSITIVE...
An earthquake in vision and in a prophetic dream speaks
of the power of God. When I have seen an earthquake in vision, it has
symbolized the might and power of God. It has symbolized the shaking that
occurs as He works in the life of one to bring change. I have seen
earthquakes in the context of revival, where the Lord has said that before
He would pour out His spirit on a group, that first there are some things or
people that will need to be ‘shaken’ out of their lives. This shaking brings
freedom, as demonstrated in this passage:
Acts 16:26 "And suddenly there
was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken:
and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed." (GMR)
Also…
Isaiah 29:6
"You shall be visited of the LORD
[Yahweh] of hosts with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with
storm and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire." (GMR)
Haggai
2:6 "For thus says the LORD [Yahweh] of hosts; Yet once, it [is] a little
while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry
[land];
7 And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come:
and I will fill this house with glory, says the LORD [Yahweh] of hosts."
(GMR)
Isaiah
2:21 "To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged
rocks, for fear of the LORD [Yahweh], and for the glory of his majesty, when
he arises to shake terribly the earth." (GMR)

EAST |
|
Definition For:
DREAMS
AND VISIONS |
|
POSITIVE...
In scripture, the East is often spoke of as the
direction from which the Son of Man came. It speaks of the direction of the
Lord and the direction of blessing. Here are some scriptures to consider:
Matthew 24:27
"For as the lightning comes out of the
east, and shines right into the west; so also will the coming of the Son of
man be." (GMR)
Matthew 2:9
"When they had heard the king, they
departed; and the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, until
it came and stood over where the young child was." (GMR)
Jeremiah 31:40
"And the whole valley of the dead
bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields to the brook of Kidron, to the
corner of the horse gate toward the east, [shall be] holy to the LORD
[Yahweh]; it shall not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more for ever." (GMR)
NEGATIVE...
There was a negative element that also came from the
East and that was a terrible wind that dried up all blessing and provision.
While it was the direction of the Son of Man, it is also the direction from
which a wind of destruction comes from. You would need to discern the spirit
on the vision to clarify the interpretation, being positive or negative.
Jeremiah 18:17
"I will scatter them as with an east
wind before the enemy; I will show them the back, and not the face, in the
day of their calamity." (GMR)

FATHER |
|
Definition For:
DREAMS |
|
Assess your relationship with your father before
deciding on what he represents in your dream. If you have a negative
relationship, he might speak of the enemy in your life. He might speak of
your failures, weaknesses, pain hurt or conflict.
More
often than not, I have found that a father figure represents God the Father
in an internal or internal prophetic dream.
|
|
Definition For:
VISIONS |
|
A father is a picture of strength and of covering and
protection. It is common for me to see a person’s father when I pray for
them. Sometimes it means that there is a generational curse coming from
their father. If this is the case, I often see an umbilical cord or chains
coming from their father to them (This also applies to a mother figure).
Read The Way of Blessing and
Prophetic Warfare by Les D. Crause
for a full teaching on how to deal with generational curses. |
POSITIVE...
Sometimes seeing a person’s father could be positive.
He could represent the kind of image they will become. You might see a
father figure to speak healing with regards to any broken relationship. The
Lord might be leading you to speak forth a restoration into the lives of
those involved.
Speaking positively of taking on the father’s image:
Luke 2:49
"And he said to them, How is it that you sought me? wist you not
that I must be about my Father's business?" (GMR)
Matthew 16:27
"For the Son of man shall come in the
glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every
man according to his works." (GMR)
NEGATIVE...
Once again, (the same principle
also applying to ‘Mother’)
seeing a person’s father could indicate past hurts he inflicted or any
bondage or control coming from him.
Speaking of generational bondage from the line of the
father:
1 Kings 15:3
"And he walked in all the sins of his father,
which he had done before him: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD
[Yahweh] his God, as the heart of David his father." (GMR)

FIRE |
|
Definition For:
DREAMS |
|
POSITIVE...
Fire in a dream can speak of a purging and a cleansing.
It speaks of burning the old to make way for the new. Depending on the
context of the dream, it could mean that the old or that the past is being
burned, so that the new can come forth. This may also represent a death of a
vision with regards to your ministry, personal death to the flesh with
regards to your own spiritual condition or sacrifice with regards to the
price of the calling on your life. I see fire as being positive more often
than it being negative in a dream. Speaking of a cleansing and refining (See
also: Altar and Death).
NEGATIVE...
Fire can also speak of destruction and of
fear. If you have a fear of fire, then this would represent fear to you in
an internal dream. If you had bad experiences with fire as a child, then
fire would not mean a good thing to you. If you dreamt though that you
overcame a fire in your dream, this would represent a healing from those
past memories.
|
|
Definition For:
VISIONS |
POSITIVE...
Fire has many interpretations. Some of the most common
are: Anointing, Holy Spirit, purging, glory of God, death and change.
Fire is used to make a clay vessel set in its shape. It
is also used to refine gold. Fire in visions is often positive and speaks of
the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of a person or ministry. It speaks
of being made pure, holy and purged of all dross and sin in our lives. Here
is my favorite passage referring to our calling being refined as gold:
1 Peter 1:7
"That the trial [dokimazo] of your faith,
being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried [dokimazo]
with fire, might be found to praise and honor and glory at the
appearing of Jesus Christ:" (GMR)
Time and time again we will be called to stand in the
fire so that we might be purified and made as gold for the Lord. Often the
Lord has said to me personally, “Do you want all I have for you? Then stand
in the fire, for as long as you stand in the fire, I will continue to use
you, for your works and your flesh will bow to My spirit and to My will
alone” It will cost you to stand in the fire. But it will also
change you. Forever.
I have also seen the Holy Spirit as a pillar of fire
many times as I have been in prayer. You can find many references to the
Lord as being fire in the Word, here are just a few:
Deuteronomy 4:24
"For the LORD [Yahweh] your God [is]
a consuming fire, [even] a jealous God." (GMR)
A good picture of the Holy Spirit:
Exodus 13:21
"And
the LORD [Yahweh] went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead
them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light;
to go by day and night:" (GMR)
NEGATIVE...
Fire in a negative sense speaks of destruction. The
Word says that our tongues are set on fire by hell meaning that evil and
negative words destroy. The scripture also refers to the fiery darts of the
enemy. These bring pain, destruction and a curse into our lives. If you see
this in a vision then you need to stand against those negative words and
curses in the name of Jesus! (Recommended reading: 'Dealing with Curses' - a
chapter from the The Way of Blessing
book, by Les D. Crause)
James 3:6
"And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of
iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defiles the whole
body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by
hell." (GMR)
Ephesians 6:16
"Above all, taking the shield of
faith, with which you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of
the wicked one." (GMR)

FOUNDATION |
|
Definition For:
DREAMS |
|
A foundation is something that sets you in place. If
you dream of the foundation of a old house you stayed in, in the past, it
represents everything you were and everything that was built into you at
that time. Perhaps you will dream of an old house where the foundation is
still standing. It would mean that whatever was built into you that time
still remains. You would need to discern if what was built into you back
then was positive or negative!
Hebrews
6:1 "Therefore having left behind the beginnings of the doctrine of
Christ, let us move on to maturity; not laying the foundation over again of
repentance from lifeless activities, and of faith toward God," (GMR)
You could dream of a church building or foundation. It
would then represent your spiritual foundation. Those things that have been
built into you spiritually through the years. Once again it could be
positive or negative depending on the context of your dream. If the
foundation or building is cracked, it could mean that there is a flaw in
what has been built into you.
1 Timothy
6:19 "Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the
time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal [zoe] life." (GMR)
Ephesians
2:19 "Now therefore you are no more strangers and foreigners, but
fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets,
Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner [stone];
21 In whom all the building fitly framed together grows into a holy
temple in the Lord:
22 In whom you also are built together for a habitation of God
through the Spirit." (GMR)
If you
dream of the foundation or building being destroyed, it could mean that the
Lord is smashing all of the old templates that have been built into you over
the years. A new building and foundation being erected could speak of
something new that the Lord is going to build into you – spiritually
speaking. Perhaps He is leading you to receive from a new ministry or to
head out into something new, dreaming of a new building and foundation would
confirm that it is indeed the Lord leading you in this direction.
1
Corinthians 3:12 "Now if any man builds upon this foundation gold,
silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man's work shall be revealed: for the day shall expose it,
because it shall be revealed through fire; and the fire shall test [dokimazo]
every man's work of what sort it is." (GMR)
|
|
Definition For:
VISIONS |
POSITIVE...
In the Word, Christ is our foundation! If you see a new
foundation being laid in a vision, this speaks of a new work beginning. It
means that the Lord is about to begin building a new pattern or plan into
the life, ministry or church you were praying for at the time. Keep in mind
that you will always receive a vision according to what frame of spirit you
were in at the time. This is covered extensively in
The Way of Dreams and
Visions book. Either sign up on the course for more teaching and instruction
on this or get the book.
I have often seen the Lord give someone a long staff in
the spirit to break up a foundation. This is an apostolic function and I
often see it when we are confirming an apostolic call on a person. In the
old days they would use a rod to smash the foundation so that they might
start again. If you see a similar vision, or external dream, then it speaks
of smashing and removing the old incorrect pattern of the system, so that
the new can be put in its place.
A foundation refers to the foundation of God’s house:
Zechariah 8:9
"Thus says the LORD [Yahweh] of hosts; Let your hands be
strong, you that hear in these days these words by the mouth of the
prophets, which [were] in the day [that] the foundation of the house
of the LORD [Yahweh] of hosts was laid, that the temple might be
built." (GMR)
It also refers to what we build our lives upon:
Luke
6:48 "He is like a man which built a house, and digged deep, and laid the
foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat
vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon
a rock." (GMR)
Referring to those things that we establish for the
Lord through ministry:
Romans 15:20
"Yes, I have so strived to preach the
gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build on another man's foundation:" (GMR)
1 Corinthians 3:10
"According to the grace of God
which has been given to me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the
foundation, and another is building on it. But let every man pay attention
how he builds on it.
11 For no man can lay any other foundation except that which has been laid,
which is Jesus Christ." (GMR)
NEGATIVE...
A broken foundation or building speaks of something
that was not properly built or something that has been broken down. If you
get this kind of vision for a person or ministry, then it would mean that
what they have built their spiritual life or ministry on is not solid. That
it has flaws. I often see the status quo system like this. Having walls and
a building that may look firm, but with a broken and weak foundation.
When someone has fed in things that were not the
correct pattern or of God:
Luke 6:49
"But he that hears, and does not, is
like a man that without a foundation built a house upon the earth;
against which the stream beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the
ruin of that house was great." (GMR)
Speaking of a foundation not built on the correct
pattern, but built on hypocrisy and false pretense:
Ezekiel 13:14
"So will
I break down the wall that you have daubed with untempered [morter], and
bring it down to the ground, so that the foundation of it shall be
discovered, and it shall fall, and you shall be consumed in the midst of it:
and you shall know that I [am] the LORD [Yahweh]." (GMR)
Speaking again of building something without the Lord.
Be it a ministry, a church or even your personal spiritual life and calling:
Psalms 127:1
"Unless the LORD [Yahweh] builds the house, they
labor in vain that build it: unless the LORD [Yahweh] keeps the city, the
watchman wakes for nothing." (GMR)

GOLD
(The Color) |
|
Gold has a positive
interpretation more often than a negative one. It speaks of royalty, wealth and
favor. |
|
Definition For:
DREAMS
AND VISIONS |
|
POSITIVE...
When the Lord gives us a vision
of a person’s ministry, we often see it as a golden instrument. In the case of a
ministry of psalmody, we would see a golden harp. For the prophetic ministry, we
see a golden key and for the pastoral ministry we see a golden shepherd’s
staff. Gold speaks of the divine nature of the Lord and when you look at the
tabernacle in the Old Testament it was wood overlaid with gold. Representing
humanity (the wood) being covered by the Lord (the gold).
Gold also speaks of spiritual
authority. Gold speaks of royalty and when a person is given Gold (speaking of
the divine nature of the Lord) it means that the Lord has delegated some of His
authority to them. This is especially applicable to the fivefold ministry which
is why the symbols we see in the spirit that represent the fivefold ministry are
all gold. Consider the following
scriptures...
Representing the Holiness of
the Lord:
Exodus 39:30 "And they made the plate of the holy crown [of] pure gold,
and wrote upon it a writing, [like to] the engravings of a signet, HOLINESS TO
THE LORD [Yahweh]." (GMR)
Speaking of favor and honor :
1
Peter 1:7 "That the trial [dokimazo] of your faith, being much more precious than
of gold that perishes, though it be tried [dokimazo] with fire, might be found
to praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:" (GMR)
2 Timothy 2:20 "But in a great
house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of
earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour." (GMR)
Speaking of authority:
Daniel
5:29 "Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and [put]
a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he
should be the third ruler in the kingdom." (GMR)
Speaking of royalty:
Psalms
45:13 "The king's daughter [is] all glorious within: her clothing [is] of wrought gold."
(GMR)
Esther 1:7 "And they gave [them]
drink in vessels of gold, (the vessels being diverse one from another,) and
royal wine in abundance, according to the state of the king." (GMR)
NEGATIVE...
Gold can also speak of greed
and of desiring material things. Of external beauty instead of internal beauty. Consider these
scriptures...
Speaking of vanity:
"1 Peter 3:3
Whose adorning let it not be that outward [adorning] of plaiting the hair, and
of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;" (GMR)
Speaking of greed:
James 5:3
"Your gold and silver is corroded; and the rust of them shall be a witness
against you, and shall eat your flesh as thought it were fire. You have heaped
treasure together for the last days." (GMR)

GOLD
(The Metal) |
|
Some common interpretations for gold as a color and as
a precious metal are: The anointing, the nature of God, and your faith being
tried as gold, the blessing of the Lord, having been made pure, favor and
royalty (child of the King). |
|
Definition For:
DREAMS |
|
POSITIVE
and NEGATIVE...
Gold can have various meanings in a dream. Gold by
nature is rare, costly and precious. It can refer to something beautiful, or
it can speak of greed.
If the gold is fake, then it could speak of
deception and falsehood.
You could dream of being given a golden ring, this
would have a good connotation, speaking of favor and authority. Gold is also
tried in the fire and it could speak of having faced many trials and come
forth from it as Gold. If the gold is tarnished or fake, it could mean that
there are still issues in your life that the Lord needs to deal with so that
you might be purified. (See ‘Fire’ for more on purification)
Gold also speaks of blessing and so if you see this
color in a dream it speaks of the blessing of the Lord and also the nature
of the Lord. A golden car speaks of a ministry that will be blessed. Golden
clothing could speak of being clothed in the anointing and in His glory.
|
|
Definition For:
VISIONS |
POSITIVE...
Gold speaks of richness and of blessing. It is also the
color that represents the kingship of the Lord. The tabernacle was overlaid
in gold. It speaks of the anointing, the blessing of the Lord and God’s very
nature. In the Old Testament you will see references to the Lord adorning
His chosen one with gold and with precious stones. Gold was a symbol of
beauty and of wealth. Solomon was surrounded by gold and much of Solomon’s
temple was overlaid with gold.
Gold represents the divine nature of God, it represents
His blessing and also our faith, being as pure as Gold. Every time I see an
object in the spirit that represents a ministry or a spiritual gift – it is
gold. I have seen crowns, keys, harps, rods and many other golden objects –
all representing something as being a gift from the Lord. I sometimes see a
golden light shining through a new door someone is about to enter,
spiritually speaking. I have seen golden oil to represent healing. I have
also seen it many times when the Lord Jesus has emphasized His place as King
of Kings. His crown will be gold, as is the throne He sits upon.
Representing authority and favor:
Psalms 21:3
"For
you go before him with the blessings of goodness: you set a crown of pure
gold on his head." (GMR)
Speaking once again of royalty:
Psalms 45:13
"The
king's daughter [is] all glorious within: her clothing [is] of wrought
gold." (GMR)
Speaking of being purified and of being as gold in the
fire, to deal with the flesh and bring about a resurrection into something
greater in the Kingdom of God:
Malachi 3:3
"And he shall sit [as] a
refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and
purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer to the LORD
[Yahweh] an offering in righteousness." (GMR)
NEGATIVE...
If gold is tarnished, then it speaks of needing to be
placed in the fire to get rid of the dross. In other words, there are issues
and parts of your flesh that needs to be put in the fire and brought to
repentance before the Lord can take you to the next level in your spiritual
life.
Gold can also speak of greed. You need to
discern your vision to know if it represents something positive or negative. Idols of gold were used for worship. The Lord showed me
such a golden calf in vision once. He told me that His people were
compromising with the world and that by allowing the world into their
worship, they were in fact worshipping it as an idol. The idol spoke of
their own works and of the ways of the world:
Psalms 115:4
"Their idols
[are] silver and gold, the work of men's hands." (GMR)
Referring to sin and greed:
James 5:3
"Your gold
and silver is corroded; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you,
and shall eat your flesh as thought it were fire. You have heaped treasure
together for the last days." (GMR)

negative picture in dreams and visions. Green can represent things that are
fresh and alive or it can also speak of immaturity - so discern the spirit of

Definition For:
DREAMS
AND VISIONS |
|
POSITIVE...
Green can speak of nourishment.
Things that feed and edify you. It can also speak of peace and provision. It
speaks of something that is new and birthed afresh. I have often seen a new
plant coming forth out of the ground and it is green and fresh, when in personal
ministry. When I have seen this I know that the Lord is saying that the person I
am ministering to is about to grow and although they are just starting out, that
something new is being birthed within them that is going to bear much fruit!
Green can also speak of
provision of your needs, just like green speaks of food and nourishment, it can
also speak of financial provision.
Speaking of nourishment:
Genesis 9:3 "Every moving thing that lives shall be meat for you; just as with
the green herb I have given you all things." (GMR)
Speaking of Peace and
provision:
Psalms 23:2 "He causes me to lie down in green pastures: he leads me
to a resting place by the water." (GMR)
Speaking of the favor of the
Lord:
Jeremiah 17:7 "Blessed [is] the man that trusts in the LORD [Yahweh], and
whose hope the LORD [Yahweh] is.
8 For he shall be as a tree
planted by the waters, and [that] spreads out her roots by the river, and shall
not see when heat comes, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful
in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit." (GMR)
Speaking of gifts:
Song of
Solomon 2:13 "The fig tree puts forth her green figs, and the vines [with] the
tender grape give a [good] smell. Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away." (GMR)
NEGATIVE...
Green can be negative in that
it speaks often of immaturity. Green grass is often spoken of in scriptures as
being weak and not having firm roots. Grass can be plucked up and destroyed by a
strong wind. It fades away easily and so it speaks of those things that are not
secure and wither away easily. In a natural sense green can
also speak of greed (referring to money).
Some scriptures to meditate on
- Speaking of weakness:
2 Kings
19:26 "Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and
confounded; they were [as] the grass of the field, and [as] the green herb, [as]
the grass on the housetops, and [as corn] blasted before it be grown up." (GMR)
Psalms 37:2 "For they shall soon
be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb." (GMR)
Speaking of immaturity:
Job 15:32 "It shall be
accomplished before his time, and his branch shall not be green.
33 He shall shake off his
unripe grape as the vine, and shall cast off his flower as the olive." (GMR)
